Climate Variability and very rapid change in agriculture during the last decade is the great threat to the sustainability in food grain production in India. In spite of technological advances, weather and climate are playing vital role in Indian Agriculture. The farmers are feeling insecure for their survival due to reducing / stagnating the productivity of soil and water and made great demand from the agricultural education in view of the emerging scenario of agricultural and education at national and international level to meet the requirement of knowledge and skill of agriculture graduates about the problems associated with agriculture as intensive tillage, intensive use of inputs, mechanization, diversification, climate change and global warming. Globalization under World Trade Organization (WTO) and quick developments in science and technology including information and communication has redefined the role of agricultural education.

The Punjab Government allowed to offers the B.Sc (Agriculture) programme in various institutes for the progress of the agriculture in Punjab and to produce the more graduates to meet the requirements of knowledge about to above said issues. Similarly the Gursewa Institute of Science and Technology, Garhshankar is also offering the B.Sc (Agriculture) programme from the session 2015-16. The students have benefits to join this institute because this is easily approachable through state and private transport, institute also provides its own transport to the students to avoid the wastage of time during attending classes. For the purchase of daily use things, the institute is 3 K.M away from the market of Garhshankar. This institute has excellent infrastructural facilities for effective delivery in the field of agriculture by the competent faculty. The classrooms are well equipped with audio-visual aids and sitting arrangement. Laboratories are well furnished with latest equipment’s and facilities for the use of staff and students and for imparting practical knowledge. The area is earmarked and separately developed or established with the growing of various crops for imparting practical training and identification of various agricultural plants. Institute has the playground for sports activities.There is central library and hostels with computers and local area network facility. The central library of the institute is well stocked with a collection of around 12500 books and 45 periodicals. Besides the academically stimulating environment, institute has well equipped hospital for basic needs of the students, staff and other employees.
